Vitamins, minerals, trace elements and essential fatty acids are just a few of the nutrients that our bodies require every day to maintain optimal health. In an ideal world we would all obtain these nutrients from our food by eating a well-balanced diet.

However, modern processing methods, poor dietary choices and stressful living can inhibit our body’s ability to assimilate all of the nutrients that are required for the maintenance of good health, and as such very few of us obtain our essential daily intake of nutrients at the recommended levels.

In light of this, the appropriate use of complimentary supplements alongside a well-balanced diet is frequently recommended in the drive to reduce the risk of disease onset.

Some medication, especially when taken chronically, may also reduce the level or availability of vitamins or other substances which in turn may cause a deficiency of that specific substance, which can be supplemented on its own.
